He is the loyal husband to the elegant and elect Lady Jan Cherry—who compliments and serves him with distinct honor and ardent zeal! They are graced with two sons, Wesley Jr. (wife Kara), Joel Mark and their beloved grandchildren! Summary of credentials include: B.A. in Social Science, M.A. in Pastoral Counseling and Doctorate in Theology (Th. D.) as well as an honorary doctorate from Faith Christian University and Schools. In 2007, Bishop Cherry was appointed to the office of Bishop within the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International by the honorable Presiding Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr. and the Bishop's Council. Presently, he serves as the State Bishop of Virginia, and Bishop of Auxiliary Bishops and General Overseers. Without question, Bishop Cherry exemplifies the pursuit of Kingdom order and excellence. His life’s mission and mark continue to largely impact lives across the nation. To God Be the Glory!
She is blissfully married to the humbled and esteemed Bishop Wesley T. Cherry, Sr., (Th.D.), (who in addition to the Pastorate of Word Alive Church International in Manassas, Virginia, serves as District Overseer of Northern Virginia, First Assistant to the State Bishop of Virginia and General Overseer of the Southern Atlantic and Northeast regions of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International under the stellar leadership of presiding Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr.).
Lady Jan has served diligently in multi-ministry capacities including Youth Advisor, Adult and Youth Choir Directress and currently serves as Helps Ministry Coordinator, Women's Ministry Director (Women Armed & Ready), NoVA District Women's Director and First Lady of Word Alive Church International! Her most passionate ministry is the diligent service to her husband, Bishop Wesley T. Cherry, Sr. She also has a genuine love and affinity toward children—always encouraging them to develop to their fullest potential and achieve personal greatness in life.
In addition, Lady Jan's ministry extends into her career as a Mental Health Therapist, where she has been graciously employed for over 25 years. Through her profession, God has opened many doors for her to serve, influence and encourage lives by exhibiting the love of Jesus Christ.
Her elegance, grace and no-nonsense style defines her as a 21st century First Lady with a relevant word that transforms lives through the power and presence of Jesus Christ. Lady Jan and Dr. Cherry are graced with two handsome sons, Wesley Jr. (wife Kara), Joel Mark and adorable grandchildren, Jaylen Jameer and Nyla Simone.
